A serial swindler in Australia who ripped off AUD 1.96 million (USD 1.3 million) from a recruitment agency he deceived will spend the next 18 months in jail, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.
Brian Munn, 55, supplied traffic control services to construction sites under various company names and dishonestly obtained almost the AUD 1.96 million (USD 1.3 million) from Victorian labour hire service firm AB Contracts Pty Ltd.
As part of the fraud, Munn submitted made-up time sheets about false staff. County Court Judge Frances Hogan told Munn, “Such deliberate, premeditated misrepresentations were designed to have AB pay money for workers that were never engaged by you, or for hours well in excess of what they actually performed.”
Munn previously dealt with several labour recruitment companies and left them with unpaid invoices before beginning his work with AB in 2013. Munn has also previously pleaded guilty to multiple charges of obtaining financial advantage by deception between February 2013 and October 2014.
