Australia – Freelancer.com acquires UK-based online staffing firm
Freelancer.com acquired UK-based online staffing platform Freelancers.net in a deal announced Thursday. The acquired firm has more than 70,000 registered users and is primarily focused on the UK. It was founded in 1999.
Freelancer.com CEO Matt Barrie said the deal will enhance his company’s UK footprint, which already included a London office in operation for the last four years and has approximately 1 million UK users.
“The UK represents a key market for Freelancer.com, where we do not only invest in acquisitions, but also have a strong executive team that we are always looking to expand,” Barrie said.
Freelancers.net CEO Dan Winchester said it was time to provide users with a larger international reach.
“I’m confident that this transaction will provide our valuable users access to new job opportunities worldwide, as well as for our clients to find the perfect talent to get their projects done,” Winchester said.
Winchester founded Freelancers.net along with Andy Stowell and Paul Smith.
