Artificial intelligence will not lead to a situation where there are fewer jobs in the country, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister chairman Bibek Debroy told the Economic Times. During a speech at the Brookings India seminar on ‘Manufacturing Jobs: Implications for Productivity & Inequality’, Debroy said, “There will always be some job loss, that does not mean that there will be overall fewer jobs.” Debroy added that there is no need to be worried about AI, instead India “should be more concerned about human development and skill development.” The comments came after former Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan, expressed fears that AI would take up both high skilled and unskilled jobs.
