The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Taiwan stood at 3.76% in August, down from 3.95% in the same period last year, according to figures from the Directorate-General Budget, Accounting and Statistics of Taiwan.
The figures showed that the number of unemployed persons in August was 461,000, an increase of by 7,000 (1.54%) on the previous month, but a decreased of 19,000(-4.05%) from the previous year.
Meanwhile, total employment in August 2017 was 11,377,000, which increased by 17,000(0.15%) from the previous month and increased by 87,000 (0.77%) from that of the previous year.
Taiwan’s labour force participation rate was 59.01% in August 2017, which increased by 0.10% over the previous month and 0.08% over the previous year.
