The number of total employees fell for both IT Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys at the end of June quarter when compared to the previous quarter, however Indian IT services provider Wipro bucked the trend with an increase in the number of employees, reports the Hindu Business Line. TCS’ net employee addition in June quarter declined by 1,414 and Infosys’ by 1,811, Wipro recorded a net addition of 951 for the same period. Tata Consultancy Services stated that that lower attrition was a reason for new addition declining and the company had fewer freshers coming in during June quarter compared to same period last year. The group also stated that increased automation and a shift to digital impacted their net addition of employees. The increase in Wipro was attributed to aggressive recruiting in the US as the company achieved its goal of staffing over 50% of its workforce from local talent rather than foreign transplants.
