Direct recruitment of jobs in the central government ministries and departments in India has fallen by 87% in 2015 compared to 2014, according to data from Indian Parliament Lok Sabha. The data, published in the Economic Times, shows that the total appointments made through direct recruitment by central government ministries and departments fell to 15,877 in 2015 which is a decline of 87% from 126,261 in the year 2013.
Minister of State for personnel, public grievances and pensions Jitendra Singh has said that the government had constituted a committee under the Chairmanship of the then Secretary, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment to make an analysis of the reasons for non-filling up of reserved vacancies and to suggest remedial measures.
