More than 18,000 expatriate workers were caught in 2016 for violating labour laws, reports the Times of Oman. The Ministry of Manpower revealed that 400 expat workers were caught every week last year, leading to a total of 18,854 caught in 2016. Many of the violations were for working without documentation and staying in the country for longer than they were supposed to. Ironically, many of the workers end up stuck in Oman due to being unable to pay the fines associates with violating the labour laws.
