Staffing hours worked for the week ended Oct. 30 edged downward 0.6% from the previous week but remained up 16% year over year, according to the latest SIA | Bullhorn Staffing Indicator, released today.

In the week ended Oct. 30, the index value was 110, unchanged from the prior two weeks.

Week ending Oct. 30, 2021 Indexed value Year over year Week over week
US staffing 110 +16% -0.6%
Commercial staffing 96 +9% -1.0%
Professional staffing 139 +28% +0.2%

Hours worked remained near year-to-date highs for both professional and commercial staffing, consistent with the broad seasonal increase observed in the fourth quarter of most calendar years.

The SIA | Bullhorn Staffing Indicator measures hours worked. It comprises two sets of analyses: a year-over-year comparison showing how the most recent week compared to the same week 12 months previously and an indexed value that has been benchmarked against data from the week ended Jan. 19, 2019.
