The competition was jointly held by the ILO and Apindo, aimed to eliminate stigma and discrimination against people with HIV and to promote HIV prevention programme at workplace. Prior to the competition, 30 participants joined a one-day training on the making of a video blog effectively and interestingly. The participating companies represented the HIV high-risk working sector such as construction, transportation, mining, oil and gas as well as manufacturing.
“The ILO hopes to inspire more companies to conduct an innovative campaign. A campaign in the format of video blog or vlog, widely disseminated through social media, can reach out to more young workers. They play an important role to fight challenges of the future of work, including the fight against discrimination and stigma for people with HIV,” said Michiko.
Meanwhile, Rima Melati, representative of Apindo, emphasized the importance of knowledge to fight stigma and discrimination against HIV/AIDS. “Apindo fully supports this innovative initiative. We need to make the best use of technology as a mean to reach out millennials considering the rising number of HIV cases in productive age of 15-24 years old,” she said.
