Businesses in traditional sectors in India such as agriculture, petroleum, pharma, transportation and legal are aggressively hiring technology talent to stay ahead of the curve in the face of digital disruption, reports the Economic Times, citing research from LinkedIn. According to data from LinkedIn, the pace of hiring digital talent in these traditional sectors is five times higher than that of their overall hiring. For example, the Indian automotive sector is going through rapid transformation due to the arrival of new technology such as driverless cars, as a result, automotive firms are hiring talent with experience in the field of AI. Some of the areas that are in focus include AI, digital transformation, data sciences, machine learning, deep learning, Internet of Things, virtual reality and blockchain, among other emerging technologies. “Traditional businesses have no choice but to ramp up digital and new technology talent to enhance productivity and ensure ease of business,” K Sudarshan, managing partner, India, at executive search firm EMA Partners, said.
