In an interview with BusinessWorld India, Ajay Shah, VP and Head-Recruitment Services, TeamLease Services, said the hiring outlook for India is said to be quite optimistic for the next 18 months, at least.

TeamLease predicts 600,000 new jobs for the year 2018 alone in sectors like technology, e-commerce, SME and pharma alongside manufacturing and financial services. Shah added that with the new technology disruption, the demand would be for skills in artificial intelligence, cyber security, analytics and blockchain. Technology alone will create 200,000 jobs, according to Shah and optimism is improving due to increasing investments in digitisation as well as automation.

“While it is clear that India does not have job creation issue however, the talent pool needs to enhance their skills and abilities over the next 18 months,” Shah said. On the recruitment industry, Shah said that diversity, interviewing innovations and AI and Machine Learning are among the top trends.
