Japan – Company replaces its staff with robots (The Independent)

A Japanese insurance company, Fukoku Mutual Life Insurance, is replacing its workers with robots and machines, reports the Independent. Japan hopes that the introduction of automation in the workplace will help address its problem of a shrinking and aging population. Meanwhile, the company hopes that its investment into robots will pay off in the next two years. Its new artificial intelligence system will calculate how much policyholders should be paid out.
