The disabled are a huge pool of talent that most American employers won’t even consider.
From the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch:
It’s an abysmal fact, but one that pales when held alongside another national statistic: the unemployment rate among Americans with disabilities is a whopping 70 percent — and holding.
There are plenty of reasons for such a high unemployment rate among people with disabilities, but certainly chief among them is the wrongheaded bias that disability impedes productivity, that when it comes down to getting the job done, the worker with a disability just might not be up to the task.
