Brazil – Jobless rate hits record 12% to end 2016 (Reuters)

Brazil ended 2016 with a record high unemployment rate of 12% between the period October to December, reports Reuters, with data from the Brazilian Institute for Geography and Statistics. The rate amounted to 12.3 million people who were looking for work. The country’s unemployment rate has risen steadily after the country plunged into its worst recession in history, at an expected contraction of 3.5% in 2016.
