The number of online job advertisements in New Zealand rose by 0.9% in November from October and were up 12.2% from a year ago, according to the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
“The year is ending on a strong note, with growing job advertisements reflecting overall business optimism”, said David Paterson, the ministry’s labour market trends analyst.
Among industry groups, the biggest increases in online job ads over the month were in construction and engineering, up 2.2%, and healthcare and medical, up 1.2%. However, information technology online job ads fell 0.6%.
Among occupation groups, the biggest increases in online job ads over the month were for labourers where the number of ads rose 2.1%; machinery operators and drivers where the number of ads rose 1.9%; and community and personal services, where ads rose 1.6%.
